Home, sweet home

Returned last night from California. ALA was pretty amazing! I am very proud of myself because I took some initiative. I am going to be a co-convener (kind of like a chair or student liason) for the YALSA Student and New Librarian Interest Group. I am also going to start writing for the YALSA blog. Very exciting developments in my professional goals.
I got an abundance of new books which I had to ship home. Kind of ridiculous. I really wanted to not have to do that but I guess I have no self control when it comes to free and books. I will have to set up a list of books that I have so in case anyone wants to borrow/possibly have some when I finish. I have already started reading (a long plane ride is great for getting through books). I finished 2 yesterday and about half of a third. I will be adding a post about one of them because it is so much fun!
Although California was great, could really get used to the beautiful weather, it is a huge relief to be back in NYC. And, this is a short work week – 1/2 day Thursday and off Friday. Will be going to see the Feelies and Sonic Youth on Friday and then the fireworks. O.k. very boring and dry today possibly due to a lack of sleep and maybe a slight case of jetlag (although don’t really believe that!) Back to work.
